A facial treatment with microcrystals, what does it involve and what does it do?

Microdermabrasion is one of the skin-enhancing facial treatments we offer at our Beauty Clinic, but what exactly does this treatment involve and what results can you expect?

The treatment starts with a traditional cleanse, followed by deep exfoliation with the microdermabrasion device. The device creates a vacuum over the area of skin being treated through suction, while simultaneously spraying microcrystals onto your skin. This loosens dead skin cells and impurities, which are immediately sucked away, along with the microcrystals.

The microcrystals, which are aluminium oxide crystals, don’t damage your skin. It may look a little red after the treatment, but that is because of improved blood flow. It may also be a bit more sensitive. So, make sure to protect your skin from the sun by applying a day cream or sunscreen with a high enough SPF.

This treatment is completely painless and targets the epidermis, the top layer of skin. Thanks to the deep cleanse and exfoliation, the active ingredients of the skincare products we use afterwards are better absorbed by your skin. This makes microdermabrasion the perfect foundation for a combination treatment.

How else does it benefit your skin? It stimulates cell division which promotes the renewal of the underlying skin, reduces excess sebum, improves the appearance of scars, evens out your skin tone and texture, minimises enlarged pores and reduces uneven pigmentation.

As you can see, this treatment is perfect to tackle all kinds of skin problems. Tip: book a free info session if you still have questions. Our skin expert will be happy to answer them and if so desired, propose a personalised treatment plan for you! Want to find out more about our Beauty Clinic
