Manager Tine is pretty much part of the furniture, having worked here from the very beginning. As a student, she learned all aspects of Thermae Grimbergen and in 2000, she was appointed joint-manager. She can find her way around our green wellness oasis with her eyes closed and is very aware of the importance of self-care.
‘I try to look after myself, and my daughters, as best I can. I enjoy conjuring up healthy meals, I start and end every day with an extensive skincare regime, and I try to carve out time for regular exercise. Getting enough rest is the one thing I find quite hard,’ laughs Tine.
Favourite sauna
Tine’s favourite sauna is the Castle sauna. ‘It’s one of the hotter saunas, which I like. There are some great Aufguss sessions held here, plus as you lie or sit in this sauna, you enjoy fabulous views of the castle and greenery. That makes it even more relaxing.’
Being in nature always calms Tine. The last few years, she has been going for regular walks, especially since the incredibly cute Labrador Oli has joined the family. ‘Apart from this, I relax by reading a book or watching a great series on Netflix.’
Favourite product
‘I’ve been taking good care of my skin all my life. I don’t have a fixed beauty routine, but I do try to switch things up regularly. One constant in my beauty products is the facial peeling by Sirène, a grain-free scrub. It gives my skin a deep cleanse, without being too harsh. I also love massages and treatments, but I must admit that I don’t make enough time for them. But when I do, I tend to go for the Oxygen treatment at the Thermae Grimbergen Beauty Clinic. This facial treatment gives my skin a real boost, with instant visible results!’
Favourite experience
Tine is also a fan of the daily wellness programme. ‘Every day, several Aufguss, scrubbing and relaxation sessions are organised. There really is something for everyone; personally, I prefer the more full-on sessions. Recently, our Zen master Nil has started giving unique Mindful Moments on Wednesdays, something I really don’t mind staying at work for a bit longer,’ Tine laughs. ‘I love them all, but if I had to make a choice, my favourite Mindful Moment would have to be the aromatherapy session. I absolutely love wonderful scents. When I smell a certain scent, say cedar, memories spontaneously come up. Also, the scents the Zen master picks help me relax more quickly and deeply!’
