Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils to improve physical and mental health. In this Mindful Moment, we only use the purest essential oils, extracted through steam distillation from plants, including flowers and herbs. This extraction method preserves the plants’ life force, also known as chi or prana.

Heat and humidity are excellent carriers to pass on the life force of the essential oils to humans, which is why this session is held in the Tibet sauna, right after an Aufguss session. Because that is when the room is lovely and warm, with high humidity.

Essential oils have a therapeutic effect and every oil has its own specific properties. Our Zen master uses seasonal scents and decides on the day what scents he will be using. Of course, he will tell you all about the specific scents during the actual aromatherapy session.

This Mindful Moment adds an extra dimension to your sauna day! The session is led by the Zen master, making this a truly mindful experience. He makes sure that you are not distracted and that you focus fully on the scent experience. What can you smell? What do you think of when you smell this particular scent? What feelings does it evoke?

Aromatherapy is an individual experience i.e. the effect will be different from one person to the next. Some people experience this scent journey at a deeper level than others. We tend to use soothing scents that have a calming effect. Through this Mindful Moment, we boost your wellbeing, help you re-energise and achieve a healthy mind-body balance in a 100% natural and safe way. Our aromatherapy sessions are open to all, but we advise you to attend this session nice and relaxed. Don’t head straight into it from your sauna or Aufguss session but do take a fifteen-minute break before taking part. That way, you will get the most of our Zen master led aromatherapy session.  Also, don’t jump into the swimming lake or sauna immediately afterwards. Take the time to let everything sink in for a while. Have a stroll around our swimming lake, cosy up around the campfire or lie down for a bit in one of our relaxation areas.
