Our clay masks contain white clay, which is naturally rich in minerals. And because they are a mild products, they are suitable for all skin types. They also include added extracts with specific properties that not only enable us to deeply cleanse your skin with these masks, but also prevent inflammation, for instance, or hydrate your skin.
The benefits of a clay mask
- Deep cleanse: clay draws out impurities, excess sebum and dead skin cells, removing them from your pores.
- Mattifying effect: clay is perfect for oily or combination skin and because it absorbs excess sebum, it also makes your skin less shiny.
- Firming: clay has a skin-firming effect.
- Calming: we choose white clay because it is a mild product that is also suitable for sensitive skin.
How to apply a clay mask?
The clay masks we use in our treatments are also available to buy for at-home use! We offer two types: one for dry, sensitive skin and one for normal to oily skin. They are both white clay masks, which is known for being a gentle clay that draws out waste products. The sensitive skin option also contains kaolin, which has a soothing effect and deeply cleanses the skin without drying it out. Other ingredients include sunflower oil, a powerful antioxidant packed with vitamin E; cucumber extracts for radiant skin; and aloe vera for intense hydration.
The normal to oily skin option contains, among other things, witch hazel, the perfect skin-cleansing ingredient. It reduces skin inflammation, resulting in fewer blackhead and spots. It also has a soothing and firming effect. A real allrounder, in other words. Among the other ingredients are chamomile, for its calming properties; sage, which clarifies your complexion and refines your pores; and last but not least, apple extracts which firm your skin. This mask restores the oil balance of your skin and removes excess sebum.
So, how do you apply these clay masks? First of all, make sure your skin is properly cleansed, for instance, by using a cleansing milk and lotion or maybe even a peeling. Apply a thin layer of the clay mask to your skin. Leave it to be absorbed for about 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Use soft sponges or your hands, never a rough flannel. Gently pat your skin dry and apply a serum or moisturiser, if you like.
How often should you use one of these clay masks? It depends on your specific skin needs. Do you have oily skin? Apply it once or twice a week. Do you have dry or sensitive skin? Then you should probably only use it once a week or even once every two weeks. If you have normal skin, it is okay to apply this type of clay mask once a week.
You can buy your favourite clay mask at reception of our wellness centres or ask one of our beauty therapists for it. We sell products by Sirène, a high-quality skincare line produced exclusively for us in a Belgian lab.
